New Riviera 2807 Owner

Howdy folks!,

My wife, Liz (also new on this forum) and I have ourselves a 1985 Riviera 2807 that has captured our hearts but likely seen better days. We bought her at the end of the 2019 season and our first task was to get it out and stored. Sadly, the marina we used did not properly winterize it so we lost the entire 2020 boating season waiting; not only to COVID, but waiting for Crusader engines to be rebuilt and 4 manifold rebuilds. So now we have nicely rebuilt engines, it's on to the next projects: Replace canvas, find replacements for 4 of the plastic porthole windows and start replacing other systems, starting with plumbing.

We have a canvas guy coming but sure could use help from you experienced CYOs with the rest. For example, I have had no luck yet finding replacement plexi porthole windows. About half of ours are yellowed, cracked or just plain busted. Four are pretty messed up and need outright replacement. Thoughts are appreciated.

Welcome. We have a Riv as well. Definitely a cool boat. We have a lot of the same issues too so look forward to discussing this stuff as we move along. We could use some new windows as well- i have not got that far. Let us know what you find.
Best,

Another Riv owner - in Toronto, Irish name - posted here about his success in building his own port windows of glass.
He might catch this thread, or do a search.

We are in Gan, not so far away, and if you see the guy who bought our Albin 25 at the Trenton marina - be kind! Nice people. Vietnamese actual boat person.

Total non-sequitur: It strikes me that we Riv owners need out own category, being such a unique and historic style. Vintage vessels require a bit more specialized knowledge, it seems, and it would be great to have a resource where Riv owners could rely on help from co-vesselers (I invented that term TM) :captain:

Welcome on the forum! The canvas and the railing were totally redone on our Carver Riviera 1989 just before we bought it last June.

Very nice job and a lot more space inside;)

Best,

Will keep you posted on progress, however slow it may be. We are still working stiffs, so time is at a premium.
