Hello there!
I'm about to be an owner of a 1988 Santego 30. Super stoked to have a boat to enjoy in the city! Also excited to have another thing to wrench on (in addition to cars and bicycles).
Looks like it's a bit difficult to come by documentation. I've found the doc thread and PMed so far which seems to be a huge boon to the community here.
I'll get some pics uploaded asap.
Very excited!

First time boater! I had never imagined being a boat owner but a good friend of mine has been interested and we started looking into it together. We will be 50/50 joint owners of the boat. Actually, that might be a good question. We will be signing an agreement (potentially notarized) similar to:
https://www.jotform.com/pdf-templates/b ... 20businessWe are aware that most insurance and slip agreements require single ownership. We'll cover that in the agreement. Anything else that we should watch out for and specify in the agreement? Any other advice for joint ownership?
Thanks!

Consider formulating a schedule for who uses the boat when, as well as a process to change that schedule. Also, how each party shares in repair/maintenance. I.E. general repair/maintenance expense is split according to ownership ratio. If one party causes damage due to operation ( bang into a dock and causes hull damage ) then that party should be responsible for out of pocket damage costs. I had a friend who took on a partner owner. First time the partner took the boat out, he dragged the lower unit through a bunch of sand & silt. He was not experienced so did not realize he should watch engine temp. Blew up the motor, so that was his neglect. First friend lost 5K because they argeed to split expenses 50/50, without a clause for individual neglect. Good luck. Lot of friendships dissolve due to not being clear on agreement. Welcome to the forum!
