Hi everyone:

Glad to find this forum. I'm Steven, a Maryland resident who just purchased a 2008 Carver Mariner 36 that now sits on the South River on the Chesapeake. Having bought the boat in November, I could not bring myself to haul it out right away, so it is still in the slip. At the moment, I'm looking for alternatives to hauling out and shrink wrapping, but will keep that conversation to a different thread.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you fellow boaters, and hopefully contributing a few things along the way. Thanks!

-Steve

Welcome aboard! At this point, it probably does not need to come out of the water as long as your climate is boat friendly. If you get a few freezing days/nights, you could keep things warm enough to avoid ice damage. Use some small heaters to circulate warm air in various areas, as long as you have power source. Be careful with that as some marinas do not allow heating appliances to run onboard for obvious reasons. You could probably hire a diver to perform hull inspection/cleaning at some point to handle a potentially nasty job. Hope you have fuel tanks filled enough to avoid condensation issues. Good luck! Pics would be nice! 8-) er

Welcome aboard!!

Are other boats in the marina still in the water? Do they have something (bubblers or something circulating the water) so that the surface water doesn't freeze around the boats?
