260SE Midcabin Engine Hatch Covers

Postby csuchyaz » May 18th, 2023, 6:41 am

Hi All,
New to the group, boat in ohio on lake Erie, looking for suggestions on finding engine bay covers for a 1998 260SE midcabin express. Mine are finally starting to go so I want to have a season to either build, refurbish or buy a replacement set. Ive tried all the online stores, and most boat junkyards I could find.
Great to meet everyone,
Chris

Welcome aboard Chris.

Chances of finding another set is probably pretty slim. When you say "starting to go" do you mean the core needs to be replaced or is it more of a cosmetic concern? Either way, you may have no choice but to take them to a glass shop and have them re-cored, refinished, etc.

Have you tried:

The problem with a lot of large salvage yards is they have so much stuff they can't tell for certain if they have what you're looking for. I find the best thing to do is go through their yard, warehouse, etc. to see if you could find what you're looking for.

Not sure where in Ohio you're located, but there's also this place in Lasalle, MI that you might want to check out.

I had one of mine re-cored a couple years ago. Luckily they were able to do it from the underside. Cost me about $1600 Canadian though. Good luck with your search.
