Current comments from Ont Gov officials indicate that the golf course (and implicitly, marina) lockdown will be extended to June 2 at least. :banghead:

Because some people just don't get it and ruins everything for the rest of us. There are several articles regarding this, here is one.

That's exactly right Hans and is why we'll never get out of this pandemic any time soon. Arrest them all! When this whole thing started, China and other countries did it right, China shut everything down for about three months. If you were caught out on the streets, you were thrown in jail if you weren't one of the designated people in your household allowed out to get groceries or medication. There is a time for personal freedoms and rights, this isn't it. China has been back to normal since last summer!! I know a lot of expats that live there that are very happy with the way they shut down. They have the odd case now but it's usually from people returning back to the country. These half assed measures we're taking are screwing us. I would rather have shut down completely for 2 or 3 months last year than have this stretch out for as long as it has now. We're on and off on and off and will continue to be if we don't learn from what's happened over the last year with these small tokens of inaction.

China also *welded* people's doors shut so they couldn't get out of their apt buildings!! We have no idea of the real death toll in China, so I'd be VERY hesitant to use them as an example. Florida is probably the best example. They shut down early but also opened up much earlier than others and more controlled than anywhere, and then opened fully well before everyone else. Their infection (and more importantly death) rates are MUCH lower than the average US state, even those that locked down hard and long.

I know expats that have lived in China for decades so I have no problem using it as an example KM, they relay exactly what they see without the propaganda. Some of them are from the States so they share both sides as they still have family in North America. I also heard about the door welding thing and so did some of them, and with all the word of mouth over there, none of them heard of people being welded in. One incident had nothing to do with the pandemic and nobody living in there! The expats live in various provinces so I get a pretty good representation of what they see on the streets. I believe them more than the news I get here. Did they make mistakes, of course they did, this is new to everyone today but there is no denying that shutting down completely is the best way to get this under control, short term pain for long term gain so we can all enjoy normal lives again worry free for everyone involved. The problem is we all want instant gratification regardless of the costs.

We are all fed up of paying for other people's stupidity. It was a free for all last year. When you talk about it with them, your now the bad guy.

Their sense of entitlement keeps the spread alive, then they protest because restrictions are imposed again.
