Just curious if anyone has purchased one of these flashlights. If so, does it live up to the hype or is it a waste of money.

It's OK - the zoom feature is nice, but it's not a great spot or long range light. You can get them on eBay for less than $10:

I have been using an LED spot on the boats for a while with good results - both the Stanley 5W and especially the 10W LED lights are very bright, waterproof, and excellent battery/charge life. Amazon has it: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-SL10LEDS- ... %7CStanley

The 10W Stanley LED actually outdoes my 55W halogen spot and does not require a cord. The 5W model is surprisingly small but puts out a lot of light for its size.
