I must admit that I avoided this post when I saw it at first but what the heck. She is all tarped up so I feel that all the costs are in now. All in $CDN including TAX.

Marina - $4302
Insurance - $950
Fuel - $1800 (We put on just shy of 60 hours this year)
Supplies - $991 (cleaners, wax, polish etc. etc. we bought a new tarp this year $260 alone)
Maintenance - $1400 (High this year, new battery charger and we did the bottom paint.)

So in round numbers About $9400

We were in the water before the end of April and came out Sept 28th. We spend about 40 to 50% of our summer on the boat and its worth every penny.

By the time all is said and done I figure around $35,000 max. Most of the stuff I have already received and some is installed, the rest will happen soon or in spring before launch. I do everything myself with the exception of the canvas and seating.

All new Raymarine electronics, Dual MFD's, AIS/gps capable VHF, Multifunction instrument, Autopilot control head, Chirp radar, 4 new fuel gauges and rudder indicator
Intellian Satellite TV.
Remote control for the bow and stern thrusters
New canvas
New cockpit vinyl
Sea Dek in the cockpit, stairs and swim platform.
Replace all carpeting and add quite a bit of wood flooring.
Upgrade of all 3 TV's.
New Fusion 3 zone media centre with remote cockpit control and siriusXM.
New faucets all around.
Dual water filtration system.
New ropes and fenders.
Sent in props for prop scan.

Probably forgot a ton of stuff but the good news is I will have nothing left to do in the next 10 years. last boat took me 10 years to upgrade, not this one. :captain:

My final 2016 tally. I think I will do it again in 2017 so I will probably start a new 2017 thread.

My final tally.

Trouts Yacht Basin Summer Dockage ------------------------$1,200
Garmin EchoMap 94 sv GPS---------------------------------------$1,112.99
Standard Horizon Explorer GX1700 VHF-----------------------$264.99
Perko (New Cabin Keys) --------------------------------------------$5.10
Boat Detailing ----------------------------------------------------------$850.00
NAPA New Battery ----------------------------------------------------$98.59
Boaters Value New Shower Head---------------------------------$26.49
Shakespeare 8900 VHF Antenna -------------------------------$178.07
West Marine Oil Extractor---------------------------------------------$74.19
Boat Insurance Policy--------------------------------------------------$377.00
TV Antenna Extension Mount----------------------------------------$42.89
I-LYA Powerboat Regatta Dockage--------------------------------$238.00
Fuel-------------------------------------------------------------------------$100.00
Dockage William G Milliken State Park---------------------------$82.00
Day Dockage Milliken State Park-----------------------------------$10.00
Fuel-------------------------------------------------------------------------$150.00
50' Marinco Power Cord----------------------------------------------$90.09
Fuel-------------------------------------------------------------------------$249.00
Dockage Middle Bass Island----------------------------------------$43.50
Dockage Put In Bay----------------------------------------------------$52.50
Canvas Waterproofing Spray----------------------------------------$63.47
March Seawater Pump for A/C System---------------------------$349.79
Fuel-------------------------------------------------------------------------$272.00
Winterizing Supplies---------------------------------------------------$47.91
Winter Storage Humbug Marina------------------------------------$672.35

$6650.92

The marina I am spending the winter at has not yet charged me for any of the winterization of engines A/C and such. They are waiting for the completion of my transmission repair then they will bill me for the whole lot. I will start off 2017 with a big bill I guess. I did not use my boat as much last year as I wanted to. My daughters wedding came first then after my port transmission broke down she was a dock queen from early August till the end of the season.

Rick good to see you log everything, looking at the list that dockage fee is really low.....up here it costs 4 times that but I get a parking spot LOL...... :beergood:
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

I know. I cannot believe what costs for dockage are in other states. I guess we have it pretty good here in Michigan. I have not yet received my invoice for my 2017 dockage so I do not know if there will be an increase. I plan to stay where I am but if by chance there is a big enough price hike I could move. There is one marina that is closer to my home that gave me a rate of $1500 last year. The reasons I like where I am are 1. the marina is located in a protected harbor so rough weather is less of a problem and 2. its a family run marina that is IMO a first class operation.

If I add up everything I spend on the boat last year, and leave nothing out, I am sure the wife would tell me we are done. Even though she also enjoys the boat! Boating is a very fun, but an expensive hobby, especially when you get into the larger boats. In the upper Chesapeake bay, for a 40' boat figure about 5k for slip and winter storage, not including any winterization, shrink wrap or maintenance.

It is certainly one of the more expensive hobbies to participate in. Yet, most of the time aboard is worth it in the end.

Where were down to our last hurdle (oil report) for buying a 446 Carver .
Not to mention the difficulty of finding a slip in protected waters in New York the Hudson Valley cost will make you crazy
since the average cost us over 4000 from the slip to about 7000 .
That doesn’t include electricity ($125 30 amps 50 amps+) it doesn’t include winter storage it, doesn’t include shrink wrapping

That’s the skinny. Need to work and not boat to afford the lifestyle lol

We got all the good stuff like bottom paint - thousand dollars, camera upgrade, props being reconditioned yet to do

What is the sure is I don’t have to turn my boat out, chase him around, fuel cheaper than hay and don’t put shoes on her. Granted she might need to see a doctor now and thenbut don’t pay $375 to say hello!

All said
We’ll give it a go.
I hate the ducks anyway
And I’ll tell you now in my next life I’m NOT going to have goats!
Those little “bas.....” get into everything
