Saw something new last week when I went work on my boat which is still in storage. There is a Meridian 441 located not far from mine with a standard white hull. A crew came in and started to wrap the entire hull in black. Took them a little over 4 hours and the entire job was complete. Looks amazing but pretty sure it cost a few $. they said it will last about 5 years.

There is a place for it, I see a lot of hi speed boats with vinyl graphics but they get them replaced more often than you think. I've seen this done to the entire hull of a recreational cruiser and can tell you that it won't look good after a while if you do any serious boating. It scratches and scrapes easily, and dull areas from fenders rubbing are quick to appear. The deep scratches and scrapes will stand out like a soar thumb when the real gel colour becomes visible.

It's probably about a third of the price of a paint job. I know someone who had it done (in black), paid several thousand, had it for one season, and after several scrapes, scratches, dull areas, etc. he had it all removed and ended up painting it anyway. Ya the vinyl lasts, if nothing touches it!
