How big is your anchor?
I have a Carver Mariner 350. It’s about 37’ long and weighs about 20,000 pounds. I have a 22 pound delta plow anchor. It’s my option that it’s to small. I’m going to go with a Rocna Valcun 44 pound anchor. I have a very silty sandy anchorages.
Is that to large for the maxwell 600 windlass? Will it fit on my bow roller? Will it look weird up there?

Re: How big is your anchor?
This should handle anything short of hurricane force winds without worry of any anchor drag.
I have a Maxwell 800 windless and when I contacted the company they told me that the 800 will handle a
45lb anchor.
As far as looks are concerned. Lets face it, the Mariner is a 'function over form' design and those of us who purchased the vessel appreciate this fact and love the boat.
I have the same attitude about my anchor choice and will accept the 'function over form' any day. I am not concerned about the look of a Mantus on my bow roller but rather look forward to a good nights sleep.
Good luck.

Re: How big is your anchor?
From what I understand, you should have your boat length in chain and the rest in rode.
Yes, I'm lacking...in chain anyway...
Also consider your area environment. In my area, its pee-gravel and mud...QCR will do good there.
Nothing wrong with going bigger.

I made my own bridle with a Mantus chain hook https://www.go2marine.com/product/33062 ... -hook.html , a couple of anchor snubbers like this https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=3325153 and some rope.

I also have all chain (150 ft., 5/16th) and made my own single line 'bridal' using the Mantus chain hook and 15 feet of nylon line. How does the defender snubber come into play and where do you attach?
Thanks

I use the snubber like in this picture. http://img.weiku.com/a/005/578/Anchor_S ... 8917_1.jpg
