Hello all, I have a bit of a issue .I own a 86 carver 3207 and due to age and neglect my bimini is torn, i need a new one.My issue is custom top shops around here about about 1500 to make a new Bimini.Whats the difference between one i can order for 600.00 that is almost exactly the same size vs them coming and fitting one to my existing Poles? I'm super curious because 1500 and almost a month wait just seems to be allot of extra for me .any info you have would be helpful. does anyone have a original black one for sale along with black window covers.

The $600 generic bimini top may work for you depending on how you want to use it. Don't plan on keeping it up while cruising at 20+ mph, it will not last long. Also, you will need to mount it to your boat, may take a few hours and modifications to the top to fit your beam. Most of these are made for smaller boats with 7' to 8'6 beam.

I got 10 years out of my old custom Sunbrella top on the Carver. Replaced it with another Sunbrella custom job - looks great and I know it will last. But it did take some serious coin to get it done.
I went with a much cheaper cover for the t-top on my Aquasport - but it had a 5 year warranty! Lasted 2 years, oxidized, and ripped everywhere. Warranty? Well, they are working on that - for some time now...
54" to 60" wide Sunbrella will cost about $25 a yard at a good price. A custom bimini takes a fitter and helper about a day to build. Do the math and see what you get...

I just bought an '83 Carver 36' Aft Cabin with a 3 year old bimini top over the entire topside. I found the receipt in the paperwork...$10,700 (nearly half the purchase price of the boat).

Price of canvas is unreal.. no way they should cost 10000$ But there are not many options which is why they can scam boaters... I bought a 2000$ canvas sewing machine and materials... I still need to get good at it. lol Not perfect but I am NOT paying that kind of money for a tent...

BUT on another note for the 3207 carver owners.... has anyone ever replaced the living room to transmission (PORT) shift cable. I have it out with no issues but one direction is super stiff.. I need to order a new one. In white letters on the cable I can see 95 14' but not sure if that means anything other than the cable being 14 feet long.

$1500 doesn't seem that much. Had a dock mate get a new enclosure for his Fairlane. Probably a 8x8 flybridge. Included glass & screen. Knew someone in the biz, so he got a deal. The cost for his - about $10k Canadian.
