Hello all-
I want to install drain plug LED underwater lights on my carver 356.
What size are the holes and how many? Also if there is only 1 drain plug is there some kind of hold you can install to mount 3 to?? Thanks in advance!!

I wouldn't expect much light from a drain plug light if thats all your installing there is only 1 by the way. If your concern is about drilling into the transom i understand i have a 405 same dedign as you.maybe consider trim tab mounting instead. I am doing this soon found some nice led lights that aren't a arm an a leg had good reviews and work nicely underwater just havent mounted them yet on the boat working on my mounts right now There's some pretty nice lights out there but not worth some of the money they want. Just a thought

I already have the lights (2 of them). They are the 27 watt Cree LED.. your right, I don’t want to drill into the hull. Trim tab mounts should be nice.. how are you making them, design? If you do t mind sharing with me

I wanted a nice even spread of light behind the boat i am just making a plate that is the deminsions of the led housing I will drill and screw into the trim tabs the light will be on top secured and out of the way I'm in fresh water looking at helping out with fishing too.

There are a couple different plug lights and I prefer not to drill any more holes if I don't have to. Now if your going to put them on your trim tabs you still have to drill a hole to run the wires into the boat. On the 356 as the 355 you are going to need a scope light and a rigid flexible wire snake if your going to run wires from your drain plug. If I remember right you are going to have to go under the aft bilge pump down to the drain plug or back up with the fish and the scope light. They make a plug that will hold 3 plug lights and IMO will light up the back of your 356 just fine. You also can put a real cheap controller in line to make the lights dance and change intensity. Yes they come out of china or somewhere over there but run about $3.00 each, so you buy a few extras. Now there are many newer lights since I put ones in a couple of years ago, a triple configuration, that have a lot more led's in them giving a brighter light with a wider pattern. Most all of the plug lights are 1/2" NPT same as your plug hole. Have fun which ever way you chose to go!
