Tips on buying 1988-89 mariner 350

Just wondering if anyone has an tips or specific things I should look for when buying a used mariner 350. Any help would be appreciated. Looking forward to being part of this community!

The obvious things are when you find one you like you will need to survey and sea trial the boat. Good luck in your search. There is a Carver out there waiting for you.

Welcome aboard. As Rick said, you should get a surveyor to go over the structural concerns. Given the vintage, you should also consider having a marine tech do a thorough check of mechanical systems. A compression test on the engines and generator will tell you a lot about their condition. These types of checks are often looked at as a waste of money if something unacceptable is found that turns you away but in fact the opposite it true. It can be a negotiating tool and if something is found that's a deal breaker, then the amount paid for these assessments will seem small in comparison to the costs associated with correcting major deficiencies.

Go with 454 big block with 7.5 generator..
