Label maker for the boat??????

Postby bud37 » April 2nd, 2019, 11:34 am

Considering the upcoming wiring jobs , I need some advice about label makers. I have never had one, but I think it would be much better than the masking tape marker route... :-O

What do you guys use for label makers/ labels that are somewhat weather proof, engine compartment wire etc.....
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

Those get pricey as they are not sold in quantities like p-touch machine for home use. I have on of these but Brother also makes them. https://www.bradycanada.ca/en-ca/produc ... s#overview

Or you could use electrician's markers. They are numbered, lettered, and/or colorized.
Grainger or any electrical supply house has them
The really nice ones are plastic but you need a tool to get them on the wire.
And of course you'd need to keep a log of which wire numbar matches which wire.
Edit - A good electrical ID specification would include one marker at each termination, and then a second marker a foot or more away from that termination.
Thanks
