Competition is slowly fading away up here as MLMarinas has finalized the purchase of 4 more marinas bringing their total to somewhere around 9 in our general area of Ontario. There is another one private owner who has two of his own.....one being quite large.......

They first acquired.....Bayport, Wye Heritage, Baymoorings, Beacon bay, and Bridgeport....the first four on GBay.
Just picked up.....4 more...two basically on Gbay and the other two in the lake Simcoe area.

I have a feeling that after this year there might be a lot of acquisitions going on!!

I'm sure it's a good time to buy!
Wonder what the inventory for used boats will be like this summer if they impose stricter measures for keeping people at home. Wonder what will happen to new boat manufacturers that are just barely hanging on under normal circumstances.
What I do know for sure is that for the next ten years we'll be paying for all the extra government funding as a result of this. I can see the tax increases already. In my neck of the woods we pretty much work until the end of June or July to cover all the taxes, we can probably count on that changing to August to cover all the extra government expenditures needed to get us through these times.
I think I'm going to buy a volleyball, paint a face on it, and move to a deserted island, with my boat of course

As long as I have my fam and a couple of drinking buddies, I'm all good

Amazing how we struggled to find a few million to cover health care, schooling and various priorities over the years and now it seems like we can print at will. I too can see this as being a substantial burden to all Canadians in the near future. This all needs to be paid back in some form or another.
By the way, had my wife do the clipper thing to my hair, turned out real nice. Unfortunately for the hairdresser this means I will probably never go back to have my hair cut since it is so easy/convenient to do at home. Never have I had a home cut before, new territory for me after all these years.
Bought a professional clipper kit 2 weeks ago at Wally World thinking to myself they will sell out when people realize nobody is going to want to cut hair professionally until maybe a vaccine comes out. Yesterday I read in the news that hair clippers and hair dye are the next toilet paper and are almost already impossible to find. Now that this is on the news, good luck finding one.

Things could get interesting if one or two companies end up owning all the marinas. No competition with pricing.

Midnightsun, you are a brave man. The Admiral said she would cut my hair and my response was, only if I can cut yours after. Still waiting for a trim and I now it looks like the Covid hair will be around for a while. Don't see a pro cut happening for some time.
As for all the government support, I think it is required to keep things running, but your right, someone has to pay for this. Trudeau just won't be able to give millions away to third world countries for a while. Don't want to get too political on this forum, but there's lots to bitch about.
Went out to get supplies yesterday at Costco and the line up was around the building and its a very large building. Came back home and ordered a new Keg from our local Micro Brewery.
We get together with folks on Zoom app and have a few.
