Looks cool. Keep following up on it.
Maybe in Norway it will finish on time and on budget.
Sadly, in the US it would end up being about 800+m and take ten years, before it was abandoned unfinished.

I can imagine some strange happenings. Half way through, you see a big boat coming the opposite way. Who wins? The acoustics would be really cool. My Crusaders would really growl in there.

In North America there would be environmental studies for years and after spending tens of millions in research and given the green light, they will find a toad or frog or dragon fly or albino earth worm that must be conserved. Yep, would probably never fly here.

Looks kind of narrow. I probably would be bouncing side to side as I went through. Definitely would need a steady hand on the wheel for sure.

It is 87 ft wide and a bit longer than a mile. The Seaway locks are a little less at 80' wide. I have seen the lakers enter and leave the Seaway locks on many occasions, it seems like there is only 12" to spare on each side yet they manage fine without touching the walls, pretty amazing.

While that is interesting and on the surface amazing, does that not look like a canal with a roof........I don't know, but seems like a recipe for one giant disaster/news story......look what is just taking place in the Suez area. Maybe there is a good reason why we would not do that here.
