New season starting

Hello All. Cooler is in the water! Launched yesterday. After installing the run dry impellers, I did get the port engine up to 220 at launch. Apparently an air lock in water system. The mechanic bled out some air in the intake hose, and then temp recovered. Still not where it should be, running at 180, but mechanic is going to replace thermostats. Feels like the old one may have crapped out when the engine got hot. Glad I had the run dry impellers in there, a standard impeller would have been in trouble spinning without water. Starboard engine ran 10 degrees cooler than previous at 150. Hope all is OK with the port engine. Did not trip thermo-breaker.

Viper - any thoughts? Raw water cooled. New impellers. Lot of water coming out of exhaust outlet at idle. Thx.

Well first I wouldn't rely on the helm gauges if that's where you're getting your temps from. Take readings right at the engines with an IR gun and compare with the other engine. Lots of variables here but my starting point is that and with Crusaders, the U cooler is always suspect. Perhaps the biggest contributor to cooler clogging is the anode that breaks up and clogs passages. These are seldom maintained so it's a pretty common issue. Those would be my starting points before I dismantle anything, then go from there.
FYI, if those check out, when he pulls the t-stat, check its rating and I'd recommend going with 160* if you currently have 140* stats considering you're in fresh water.

Glad to hear your in the water. We here in Ontario are still in lock down mode to I’ll May 20th. I was supposed to splash yesterday, but that was a no go. Still have 1/2 the boat hull to wax and some spring mechanical stuff to do. Just bitten at the bit to get at it and start the summer.
We need a change of pace from being in lock down and we hope it will happen soon.

Depends on the marina Greg but a lot of them have already launched most if not all their customers. I went in Monday. Feels good to be in the water. Technically customers are allowed to check on their asset and do some work but not allowed to take the boats out or simply stay on their boat for pleasure.

I was told boats were being put in however you are not allowed on board until Ontario lifts the restrictions. Where I have the boat stored they sent out an email saying the marina will open/launch on the weekend of the 22nd of May
IF restrictions are lifted. last year due to covid delays/confusion we did not get in the water until June11th.
Pepmyster told me he had launched, not sure what the restrictions are at his marina.
Rules are being made up and interpreted differently all over Ontario. Many launch ramps are closed so the guy who wants to go out fishing alone in his small fishing boat cannot even get in the water.
"RECREATIONAL BOATING
As of April 17th, 2021, marinas cannot be used for recreational boating purposes except: “repairing or servicing boats or other watercraft; placing boats or other watercraft in the water to be secured to a dock until the marina is open to the public; and any other services that may be required to enable individuals to access their place of residence or their other property, support government operations or services, or support the transportation of items by commercial barges."

Yep, each municipality seems to have their own rules when it comes to public launch ramps. Yours can be closed but the municipality next to you might be open. I don't understand why the stay provincial stay at home order can be undermined by allowing municipalities to decide whether they want to keep their ramps open. If everyone was treated equally, there wouldn't be half the complaining or confusion.

Viper, the manager of the Marina has commissioned boats and has put them in slips. Won’t allow us to do our own boats.
The rule needs to be clarified. It states that the boats can be repaired or serviced, however it is not really clear on who can do that. It is implied that only the Marina can service or repair the boat and that’s the position of our Marina and others up our way or taking it to mean. They seem to be following the lead of Maple Leaf, who more or less owns most larger Marina’s. Krates Keswick, Starport and Inner Harbour Toronto are open for folks to work on their boats but you cant stay or leave the slip.
It is very clear about not allowing recreational boating, therefore not permitted to go to the boat and stay on it for sure.
I am going to wait and see what May 20th brings and hope they lift some of the restrictions like they did last year that permitted boating and golf.
Based on what you are saying, it seems that nobody really understands the intent of the section in the restriction. I am glad your in and able to do some work, I wish we were in the same boat, sort of speak.
