Indoor Disposable Boat Cover

Saw another boat with this in the storage dome so I thought why not. This plastic is designed for overspray for car painting/masking. Comes in a 400' x 16' rolls, weighs almost nothing and I would say similar to what the laundry places puts over your cleaned clothes. Total weight of plastic I used was probably less than a pound. :-O I needed to use 2 pieces as 16' was not wide enough to do my boat which was a piece of cake to do. Definitely want 2 people to do this as the slightest breeze will float everything quite easily. Just a few pieces of painters masking tape to hold the pieces together and secure it to the boat. Can most likely do the boat 7 times with the roll so about $8.50 in material costs. :-O https://www.amazon.ca/3M-06728-Overspray-Protective-Sheeting/dp/B000SMY1DW

Meant for dust/dirt, general protection. This cannot be used outdoors as it would rip apart in no time. Allows me to bring home all my canvas to wash, treat without needing to run back to the marina to put everything back on which will get dirty/dusty over the winter.

Crappy picture but this gives you an idea.

You might call it "disposable", but it really doesn't need to be. If you spend a little time customizing it to you boat (taping sections together, making a "v" for the bow, etc), and just be a bit careful when you remove it, you could probably use the same piece for YEARS and use the rest of the roll for other projects. That stuff compresses down pretty small for storage...you could probably fit it in a 1x1x1 box for the off season.

For folks who've never done indoor storage before, it's an eye-opening experience to see how dirty your boat can get even in a relatively clean building. A simple cover like this prevents a LOT of work in the spring!

Great thinking if you have problems with dust or bird poop. As long as air is able to pass so not to cause mold . I know that wrap very well, it should work do the purpose extremely well. Good thinking.
