My wife said we should try bringing the cats with us on the boat so being the perfect husband I said yes. :captain: Hate to admit it but she was right, cats seem to be happy to be with us. They are still wondering why their home moves and rolls in waves but they are getting better every day. Patch is our 15 year old, the black and white one and Peach is the 7 year old. Both cats were saved from certain misfortune when they were young by my wife.

We had a guest in the harbor last year who had a cat. Nosy creature went all over the marina but knew exactly where the home vessel was and used the .. er.. cat toilet... on board.

Owners said the he always found the boat no matter if it's a new marina and in what box, smart creature.

ours gets lost in our own garden so we're not going to take here anywhere outside. Mind you, she's 18 years which apparently is 84 in human age terms

We took our previous feline to a boat we used to have and once on board we could tell he was not happy. As soon as I started an engine he bolted and disappeared for the whole weekend. We thought he had found a way off the boat but he had somehow found a space on board I never even knew about. That was fun trying to get him out of there. I think he was pretty happy about never setting foot on a boat again!

Lets roll back a few weeks first time on the boat with the cats. They seemed to be doing fine the evening when we arrived and the night went very well. Next morning we went for our morning walk, about an hour. Upon our return my wife could not find Patch. We looked everywhere however no Patch in sight. I started looking for wet paw prints on the shore, asked people if they had seen a cat, informed the marina that we lost a cat. Kept on looking on shore quit far from the boat however no luck. Upon my return my wife was on the phone with her daughter and crying like a little child, she was devastated. I tried to comfort her but I was not really successful. Looked behind the couch but there is about 1" between it and the wall. While I was shining a flashlight she pops out from inside the couch! Somehow she squeezed herself inside the couch. We had a drink after that needless to say.

We are presently at anchor as I write this, both cats roam freely on board and do venture out to the bow. They are still not comfortable enough to try the swim platform but it won't be too far away.

Don't think they are traumatized too much. :-D
