Good day to all! Spring is coming, slowly I guess. We removed all the Seadeck on our vessel and were going to replace it all together, because, you can never get all the glue off and it looks like crap that way. So, I've looking for an alterative to put down instead of Seadeck. At the Toronto boat show, We met the owner of Nuteak. Nice product and looks like we are going to go with this. Anyone have any thoughts on this product? We are just waiting for the final quote and looked everywhere for any types of reviews. Any input would be great as I value the opinions here. Thanks!

Looks great however the difficulty in installation is not for the impatient type of person. I would be worried about longevity of the product as once you want to replace it, that glue job does seem to be quite difficult to remove. I would go and see a boat during a sunny day just to make sure it is not like many other synthetic teaks that can be unbearable to walk on in the sun. The only product I know of that passes the sun test is Seadeck. That being said, even the well known Seadeck starts to unglue after 6 years or so and is impossible to glue back on. Nothing really perfect out there yet however I have learned one must consider ease of replacement in the future as all things will go bad with time.

Thanks for the post, always nice to see new products.

Yes I get it. Seadeck against this doesn't seem to stand up. This product looks a lot more durable. To me, it's going to be in the same price point as Seadeck. To say the truth, If the boat didn't have any type of product on it, I would never have put anything, hence, it's a viscous cycle.

Ya you'll find the Nuteak much hotter on your feet for sure, unbearable at times under the right conditions. When using the swim platform, keeping it wet all the time will help reduce the temp. I've also seen guys lay down a product over it while they're on the platform like an outdoor deck carpet and the like that they can then roll up and put away when not needed.

I've never had to remove Nuteak before so I can't comment on the ease of getting rid of the glue typically used. I guess that's an indication of how long the product lasts, and it's been out for quite a while now. The glue isn't infallible though and can lift in some spots but unlike Seadek, you can correct these areas without ruining the flooring. There are spray products out there now that can lift all types of caulking and glues by just spraying the affected areas if it ever came time to do a major replacement. I have on the other hand removed Seadek and if you really wanted to go back to the original gel surface, it's totally doable. The glue will come off with elbow grease and a lot of acetone. It's messy and time consuming but it can be done.
