Stowing Anchor Rode

On our Santego, we have do not have a windlass. The small port from the anchor locker to the pupit has a spring loaded cover. Stowing the rode is a real pain in the ass. The rode is not heavy or stiff enough to easily drop through the port. Pulling the rode from the anchor locker works for a bit but always gets jammed up as well even with the cover propped open.

What are others doing for manual stowing of the rode?

Heh there.....anchor rode over time can become twisted ( even chain ), perhaps leading to issues like you are seeing. It is good practice to let all the line out and straighten it/ take the twist out, perhaps once a season, maybe more if you anchor all the time.

By the way what type/style of rope are you using ?
