Hi folks,

For all of you on the north side of the border, Dock Links is continually expanding. We are now throughout the Rideau System, The Trent, Georgian Bay and - you are the first to read it here - the North Channel.

Here is a list as of midday today - there are 3 additional deals that have been made but we have yet to add them to our system, so wont mention them until they are live.

Our Member Perks App is now up to 2200 discounts across Canada. We also have a new "member navigation" app that is in development.

If anyone in the group is looking to join, let me know and I will send you a promo code.

Well as my last post, I was hoping to entertain my Docklinks pass for fuel saving as I traveled from Rideau Ferry marine to Georgian Bay. Very upset that there was no savings on fuel, on pump-outs...no savings on anything.
I still remain supportive of Docklinks but my wallet is telling my other.

To follow up Daves post from above regarding Dock Links.

Dave left Rideau Ferry marina which had just (previous week before Dave departed) signed a fuel discount contract. The owner had yet to install his Dock Links fuel discount sign due to the late start to the season in the Rideau Canal. As such he had not informed his staff about the fuel discount as he was not prepared to honour it until his sign was posted. Rideau Ferry does not offer a free pump out to Dock Links members. I contacted the owner of Rideu Ferry marina immediately upon recieving Dave's email. I spoke with his harbour master and the sign was being put up the afternoon of my phone call and the staff was being instructed on how to administer the discount. A side bar to this location that most people are not aware, after signing the contract with Dock Links for a fuel discount here, the owner had been admitted for a serious health issue and probably won't be back to the marina.

Dave arrived at his next scheduled fuel stop, Birchpoint Marina. As Dock Links is only 1 year old, this is also a brand new fuel stop discount for 2018. Jeff, the owner also had not posted his Dock Links fuel discount sign but had advised his staff regarding how to administer the discount. When Dave did not recieve his fuel discount here and contacted me, I again immediately contacted Jeff who apologized sincerely, explaining that he is training new dock staff (as is life in the marina business at the start of each season) and offered to mail Dave his fuel discount. Birchpoint does not off a free pumpout here either.

I contacted Dave and advised him of both outcomes the same day he contacted me, and instead of covering Daves discount of .03/litre for 500 litres ($15), that I would give him a free years membership ($60) to make up for his troubles. As a business owner, sometimes it is not about the problem but more about how you make it right.

Dock Links has grown from a handful of marinas and 200 odd members at the start of 2017, all believing in a concept to 2300+ members and 40 marinas. There is only 2 of us that manage the boat shows, website, networking with all of the marinas, advertising, etc - and we both have full time jobs.

The Rideau Canal was an expansion that we undertook this spring and Dave was the first boat to visit some of the marinas. As with any system or product, there are changes and tweaks to be made. With most marinas, a good 50% of the dock staff change each year, which creates a new learning curve. Dave got to work out the bugs for us.

All of our marinas are now up to speed as the season is well underway.
