Cruise to Holy Island UK
Posted: August 15th, 2018, 9:21 am
WE are 2 days away from setting off on our cruise to Lindisfarne (Holy Island) on the North East coast of the UK.
The trip starts in York, well inland, motoring down river and out into the Humber Estuary before going out into the North Sea. Turning north we head up the coast, dropping into a couple of coastal marinas before reaching our anchorage just off the Ilse. Total journey one way is approx. 250 nautical miles.
This will be done in our 1989 Carver 3207 running with twin Volvo TAMD41's.
Planning has taken a while, we have to wait tides at certain points of the river, and have 4 of the bridges opened as we progress down stream, 3 of them are in 1 town, 2 road and 1 rail.
Hopefully the weather holds and we get to see some good wild life.
Last week 2 Minky whales were spotted along our route.
