Grew, take a drive to white pigeon with the dimensions of your fridge. There are two really big rv outlet places there.
One is Bontragers. I don't remember the name of the other, but both within a few miles of each other on route 12

edit - the other is Johnsons, I think!
Thanks

There's no real way to save on this in my opinion. You can replace with a marine fridge or 110 household unit. The rv stores we I'll have 12vdc 120v ac or propane gas. I hate to spend money too but when it comes down to it if I decide to sell my boat the next owner will probably expect to be a marine unit just like i did when I was looking at boats. I bit the bullet and got what I think was a good unit. The vitrifigo I installed. I also run a mini 110 fridge on a inverter. I have a good house bank that runs other things that its connected to. This works well but you also need to spend some money on the associated items inverter, wiring and specifically a good house bank of deep cycle batteries. What you may save with a cheaper fridge will be added on the other side of the equation . Every amp of ac is equal to about 11 amps dc considering no inverter is 100% efficient. So to keep your batteries happy you really should draw only 1/2of their capcity for longevity. The 110 fridge also runs more than you think during the day. Mine is 1.2 amps 110 ac so you see about 13.2 amps dc when running uses quite a bit more juice. It is ridiculous what they charge for this stuff.

Capt bob, that is pretty funny!

I would be afraid some of the water could get in the ice cream. Where we boat, I would not want any of the water in my ice cream, unfortunately.

I have 355 frig was inoperable when purchased I looked at all kinds of option as well. Thinking I would just by a 110 small frig. Didn't want to modify the space much, so I decided to go with a rv/marine fridge by Dometic model RM 2620. It was the only one that was smaller than the space and I just had to enclose with trim. It's been operation for 3- 4 months. Has a freezer on top and has been flawless. I bought it from Adventure RV. csdaman2

Is this the same? https://www.emarineinc.com/RM-2620-Clas ... frigerator
It's says it's a 120/Lp fridge is that what you installed? Gas absorption no compressor what did you do to handle the heat from the heating element that creates the gas flow for cooling? Are you using propane? Curious.

Sorry for the late reply, just saw your question. On my boat there is a cabinet door above the fridge, I open it to vent heat but not always. There is also a small vent on the side of the cabinet facing the galley. I still have had 0 problems. I don't use propane. Hope this helps. CS
