405/406 height from radar arch to water?

Postby VicB » May 19th, 2025, 9:58 pm

We are thinking about upgrading our 3807 to a 405 or 406. Problem is our slip is 16 ft tall. Does anybody know the exact height from the top of the arch to the water on the 405/406? We had to take our radar down for the 3807. It is 15’4”. 16’ marina roofs really limit the boat options.
Thanks in advance,
Vic

The navigation light on top of the arch makes the 16. I had to make adjustments for mine to get into my slip. I haven't measured but I know top of the sundeck to water line is 13. So 15'4 is top of radar sounds right

G36, I was so glad you replied. I knew you had a 405 and would know. I’m in NW Alabama and we actually bought our boat right down the road from you in Scottsboroh. Thank you for replying. Wife and I love all the room on the aft decks of the 405/406s and love our Carver, so hoping when we find the right one, making the upgrade. Just making sure she’ll fit under the roof in our slip. Thanks again!!!!

I'm glad to help. Ive owned ours for about 13 years now and am only the 2nd owner. The original owner had carver custom build hinges into the arch.i have never seen another. They. Are molded into it so they were not a later add on. I can actually foild my atch forward to be just a few inches over the sundeck height. With the Tennessee river level changes and a fixed bridge i have had go under to get to our marina we veve done it a few times.. it was really a lucky find I dud fixe my mast light to be able to pivot down since this is needed to get into the slip and also makes us worry less about the bridge. I'd be happy to answer any questions I can the 405. Good luck with your search..

Mine also a 406 in Dauphin Island AL is 17'9" to the top of the anchor light. Easily modified to lower.

Your entire arch actually has a hinges built in like mine? Never have seen or heard of another 405/406 arch that oem Carver made that folds over. .. i have seen light and radar mounts that can be lowered but not the whole arch. We are in a special group then.

What I meant is that it can be removed by 4 bolts. You could then easily modify it to be lower. What you are saying is very cool through.

Yes unbolting the radar mount on top of the arch can surely be done to gain some inches I thought maybe you also had a folding arch too. Just strange I've never found another that has this like mine. The original owner told me he ordered from carver which I belive because if how they are flair and molded in the arch, I've just always wondered.
