I hate to say it, but the season is wrapping up and I hate it. I am getting ready to order supplies to shrink wrap my 1999 Carver Mariner 350. My question is, What width material do I order? Has anyone done their own boat?

I looked on Dr. Shrinks website and they are saying 32' wide. I'm not sure and am asking you for verification.

ps. They are saying a 100' roll should allow for two wraps.

What do they want to shrink it for u? R u saving that much DIY? I pay $14.00/foot!

I have a 1973 2585 Monterey, I shrink wrap mine for the winter. I use 12 ft wide because I have 20,000 feet of the stuff. I take two 36 ft long sheets sew them together tape the seem gives me a 36' x 24' work great. I also put in a zipper door and five air vents. If any wants some I will sell you what ever you would like of 12 foot wide for $2 a lineal foot.

Yes. It a $400 savings doing it my self.

Really? So you have the heat guns and extensions already? What do they get to shrink a boat per foot in your area? So you can DIY for $100.00 that's amazing?

Our marina only allows one company to shrink wrap and they do not allow owners to do it themselves. Cost for our 36 is $16/ft here in MN. Just measure what you need, 32' wide should be ok if you figure 12'ft wide 10' vertical on each side. Wider would be nicer though.I did my 30' Larson a few years ago I used my friends torches and heat guns and we split a roll of wrap. You also have to buy shrink tape and a roll of strapping I maybe saved $75-100 it was not worth the hassle for me.

Not to mention u need 4 other sets of hands and a case of beer for the help and then buy them lunch. Can't be cheaper!

They get something like $15/foot

Man that is cheap compared to us up here.......

Sorry, I'm confused - you are going to buy the wrap, build the braces, put the wrap up, tape it together, use a scafolding system and shrink the wrap all on your own - to save $400???

I don't see you doing this again next year to save $400 after you realize what is involved and experience it.
