My 88 mariner 3297 mufflers are so loud I can’t stand it. It’s mostly at low rpm. Is this a low water volume or need new mufflers. Thanks

Are you sure it has mufflers? My 3607 does not have any mufflers and it’s pretty loud.

Most likely muffler internal baffles are shot.

Could be "both"! As MakinTime says, our two boats (3607) don't have mufflers, just long exhausts. They are louder than muffled ones but if you're pumps are not pumping all the water they should then they will also be louder.
How are your raw water pumps? When was the last time they had new impellers, cams or a major rebuild?

My 88 3607 doesn't have mufflers either...Does not go over well in sailboat marinas!

I say so what our boat has as much right to be there as their sailboats. Funny thing, the marina where I am located the sailors and powerboaters seem to get along splendidly.

Interesting.....are they the same ones who don't bother to tie their lines off, so they slap on the mast all day and night in the wind.....just askin .......

I have one of those 3607's without mufflers....
Funny story... years ago we went up to Lexington Harbor in Lake Huron. There were many sailboats there and they were taking up all the electrical outlets so we couldn't plug in. Not really an issue, as we just ran on battery overnight, but the next morning we wanted to take showers, so I started the stbd engine to get heat. Of course the engine had to idle the whole time... ~20-25 minutes, but we got nice hot showers. I got a standing ovation as we left, but I was laughing too!!

We have a 3807, no mufflers. Very noisy. Starting to install Centek vernalift mufflers. This should reduce noise by about 60%. Easy install. I might be able to sneak up on a sailboat.

I have a 3807 and am contemplating the same thing. I haven't taken measurements yet but didn't think the geometry would work for a Vernalift from what I see. If you post some pics of your install, and the Centek part numbers, that would be great.
