Carver 366 broken side window fix?

Left the the folding side window open while docking & smashed it against the end post. Of course it's the other side from the finger. Looking at the the other good side, it looks like the glass fits into a channel & maybe slides out?

Just happened late afternoon today & not really had time to look at it closely. If anyone has had an experience of how easy or not it is to replace, I'd welcome some comments.

We are forecasted to have a cyclone " Gita " passs through in 2-3 days time so I need to get onto it ASAP. :-(

Tape some plastic over it for now to keep the water out. Call Carver with hull number and see if they can point u in the right direction to get a new one.

I agree with Mike. You could also look at the corners of the window on the opposite side and see if there is any information stamped/etched on it. Usually on a bottom corner. Probably a product made by Taylor Made. They might be able to look up the part by boat make, model, and year but best to get a part number from Carver to be sure.

Thanks for the replies. I am interested to understand how to get the broken one out of the frame with the least amount of scratching etc.
I am out in New Zealand 7 so it may be easier to get one made here using the other one as a template.
I can see 2 little screws on the good side that may be part of the answer but there's quite a bit of black mastic covering things up. I was hoping to hear from someone who has done this job before.

I can't use the 0800 number from here. Is the a direct line to the parts department that you know of? Going through switchboards can take a lot of time.

I believe I have the part number from the " 366 my-parts-manual" document I downloaded.

Sorry can't help with your window, but just wanted to add a little info......I recently got some weatherstripping from Taylor and they needed the part number to reference, but then they sent me the original cad drawings of the part with dimensions and all.....very expensive though with shipping, exchange etc......I do realize your problem with where you are located.......can you remove the entire frame and then get local glass shop to fit the glass for you?....good luck man....

Send Carver an email through their website. They're usually pretty good at getting back to you in a reasonable amount of time.

The web site will not allow me to send a query directly to Carver - it just sits circling around. I will call them on Monday morning - Tuesday afternoon USA Eastern time.

I have recently ordered and received a window for my Mariner.
The folks at Carver are excellent and gave me the part number and drawings for original Taylor made product.
Taylor in turn had to cross reference the Carver part number with their own part number. Takes a little time
but both Carver and Taylor were very helpful.
It can get costly as the replacement glass may have to be custom manufactured due to model year, etc.
For your reference in terms of cost, take a look at the port/starboard windows on a 2005 Mariner. In that model year the window comes in 2 sections.
It cost about $2,600.00 US for the forward section of the port window! Installation will be in the $1,800.00 range.
Fortunately it was all covered by insurance.
I guess nobody said owning a boat was cheap!
Best of luck to you.

An update for anyone needing replacement glass:
I phoned Carver who referred me to Taylor Made & gave me their internal part number & e-mail address.
I contacted Taylor Made who referred me to Trend Marine who are a subsidiary of Taylor. They are located in Great Yarmouth, England.
I contacted Trend Marine in England, quoting the part number. They advised that there were none available but they could make one as they had the patterns. They then quoted $1500 plus shipping of approx $400 ( it would need to be crated up to prevent breakage).
I then contacted the marine glass supplier at my local marina who advised that the cost of the 6mm safety glass used was approx $350 per sq meter & to make a new one using the other side as a pattern would be approx $450 ( including drilling the holes etc, & take 3 weeks to make.
They have made up a plexi-glass one to fit in while I am waiting ( took 1 day ) & to keep the wind & rain out & I can keep using the boat during our summer here.

So I would suggest that getting a replacement now from Trend Marine in England maybe not viable & making a new copy is the better option.
