I am having trouble finding how to remove the top of the water strainer basket that is holding the glass for the seawater pumping into my engines. It looks like there could be a 3 pronged type of wrench ? How do I attach pictures to this forum ?
Many Thanks !

Not sure what type of strainer you have but this is what I use. Just so happens my strainer is a Groco.

Sounds like you have a Groco strainer Jim. The tool Hans posted a link to is what you need.

You could probably use a strap wrench too. Those are much easier to find locally, and useful for a LOT of things on a boat.
You should not need a wrench to tighten those caps if you have good O-rings, but you might need one to loosen one that's been on there for a while.

Probably right regarding tightening but I get a good feeling knowing they are somewhat tightened down which only a tool can do, after all they are a direct 3"+ hole directly through your boat! FYI, my cap tool is hanging off of one of my strainer at all times, difficult to misplace that way and always handy.
I also find it good practice to lubricate the o-rings every season when I winterize which involves removing the caps. Alway have a jar of pure grade silicone lube like this on board. Comes in handy for threads, seals and a bunch of other stuff. Speaking of threads, I also smear a bit on the cap threads after removal.
