I'm looking at a 1992 Carver 43 CPMY. The hull sides are cored, but I can't really find much information on how the hull is constructed below the waterline. How thick is the layup, are the stringers fiberglassed plywood or a composite and is the transom solid fiberglass or is it backed with plywood or some other material?

What could help you here is to get the HIN from the hull and call Carver, they have been very helpful to others with the same sorts of questions.

The hull is solid FG below the waterline. My 330 has a minimum depth of 2", but the actual construction log measurements recorded no minimum depths, averaging 2.33" among many different locations. A 43 would have a thicker minimum. The transom is solid. There are plywood plates mounted inside the transom, covered by FG, for purposes of mounting components. The stringers are marine plywood core, covered by FG. You may have a high moisture reading with moisture meters, due to that coring. The strength of the stringers is the FG support. Carver painted their inside grey, so you could inspect for any stress cracks at the base of the stringers. I would encourage you to call Carver. They could review the build log with you.
