There are several hatches in the Master stateroom on our 560 Carver Voyager. The small hatch at the foot of the bed collects water. I have been unable to detect where it is coming from. I stopped up entry holes on either side. Any ideas? Thanks

Do you know if it's sea water, or fresh water, or grey water? Do you have a shower sump under your bed? If so, make sure it's actually working and pumping out.

Thanks, I can’t find anything that dumps to the cavity. I vacuum the water out and it may stay dry for several days. Then it comes back. It looks like clean fresh water.

I have the same issue with my 400. The rudder packing weeped a little but I had it repacked. Sump seems to work. It never gets above about 2 inches. Only happens when I'm using the boat, stays dry all winter. Suspected maybe the wet exhaust was leaking some where but I can't find it. Very frustrating! Why Caver didn't put a bilge pump right there I'll never know, its a low point between the pump under the cockpit and the engine room.

Have you tried turning off the fresh water supply for a while? I know over on the Searay forum there were several threads involving mysterious water in bilge areas where not expected and thye found many times to be small leaks in the fresh water system at bad joints. Also if it only accumulates while or after being underway the water can me migrating from some where forward like an AC pan. Always fun to find.

Ya, if it's clear fresh water, it could be a leak in your potable water system. Turn your fresh water pump on and don't use any water. If the pump cycles some time later, you have a leak. You could also try this; before you turn in for the night, ensure the system is pressurized, then turn the pump breaker off for the night. Don't use any water or run a toilet. When you get up the next morning, turn the breaker back on. If you hear the pump run as soon as you turn the breaker on, you have a leak as it should hold pressure overnight and not have a need to come on. Is your hot water tank located close by? It's a pretty common source of potable water system leaks.

These leaks can be a challenge to source. The key is to eliminate one system at a time and do some critical thinking like; does it only happen when I take the boat out? Does it happen if I just run the engine in the slip? Does it only happen when it rains? Is there water there when I shut the pump of, depressurize the system and stay away for a week with the dockside water off? Does water collect if I don't use the AC/heat? If there is a shower sump close by, is it working properly?, etc. Once you eliminate some possibilities, it's easier to narrow down the cause. Short of the cause being one of the items above, the only other thing I can think of is checking any hardware that goes through the hull. So that's rudders, shafts, intakes, seacocks, discharges, all hoses, any signs of leaks around the washer dryer?, etc.

Here is something that has worked for me.......dry the area you are talking about, then put down dry rolled up towels around that area and check them regularly and see which one or ones get wet...then you will know the direction to concentrate on and expand out the same way....it will work to narrow down where the water is coming from.......good luck ....

Thanks, i have tried stopping up both inlets on Esther side. It fills with water. I need to know where it could be coming from,

Thanks for all the suggestions. The fresh water system does leak over night. I have checked every line that I can access. Even under the seat in the guest shower. The pump may run for a few seconds for two to 3 times during the night. Keep thinking and let me know if you come up with more ideas.
