Head - What Brand Did Carver Use?

IHi All. I’m new. I have a lovely 1990 Carver Allegra 2587. Smaller than most of you but I love her. It is in pristine condition but I noticed there is a leak from the base of the head and i want to correct it. The manual refers to the head only generally. Does anyone know how to find any detailed info about the brand, or a diagram of what it underneath/how it connects to the floor? Obviously screws, but I wonder if there is special plate that may be cracked, something like the wax ring household toilets have. Thanks for pointing me in a direction !

Welcome.
If you post a picture I'm sure someone can help - Carver may have used many different heads. Dometic and Raritan are two common brands.

There is not a wax ring, but typically "O" ring seals in various places.
If you can post some pictures of the head, likely someone can identify it.

I'd venture to guess it's a Raritan "something". They have a list and pictures of heads on their site that you can use to figure out what you have.

If it is electric, it is most likely a Raritan Crown. That model was probably the most popular, frequently used.

I agree with Cooler, if it's original, a lot of Crowns were used around that vintage. Does yours look like it sits on a box or have a box enclosure like the picture in this link?.....

Thanks so much for the reply, everyone! I have looked a bit into Raritan/Crown and with your advice, I will dig deeper. It is manual/hand pump and totally clean. Except I can’t use it. : (Here is a pic. I appreciate your input if the pic gives you more info.

That looks like an older Raritan PHII. You can still get rebuild kits for those. They changed the design of a couple of components in 1992 so be sure you get the right kit for your vintage (pre or post 1992) if repairing is the way you decide to proceed. If you're sticking with a manual toilet, rebuild your current one, they're one of the best manual toilets out there IMO. The only thing that would leak at the base is the base seals of the bowl or pump, unless the base itself is cracked, there is no seal on the floor. Check the discharge fitting on the back of the pump too as that might be leaking as well.

I had one of those on a previous boat. 2 places established a leak. The output hose, - solution was to double clamp it. second place was the plastic base. It did crack at some point. You can buy just the base and replace it. Smelly but easy job. Remove the base and the hand pump assy. Inspect the base for a crack, and replace if needed. Wear gloves. There are several places it could be leaking, then just dripping down to base. Good luck.

I had two of those on my boat. They were the electrified ones, but identical except they bolt a motor on that does the work instead of you having to use the handle. I agree with the earlier posts... easy to rebuild and good units.
