MMSI Number

I have a 1991 Carver 3608 Aft Cabin and am upgrading both upper helm and lower helm VHF radios. I am working on a government form to submit in order to register for the MMSI number. One question on the form is "maximum number of persons on board?". Can anyone tell me where I can find this information for my model of boat? I have searched everywhere. Thank you.

Mike

It will be on the name plate with the rest of the ID/capacity numbers however most larger boats do not have a max capacity and technically you can have as many as you want. I would just throw out the number 12 to them and call it a day.

Thank you Hans, like the way you think!

Whatever number you choose, just be sure to have that many lifejackets on board. An overly zealous USCG inspector or marine police may board you and demand you have enough lifejackets aboard for the stated number of max passengers.

This would be new to me or a US thing. The only requirement is to have proper sized and approved vests for all on board.
