What type of wood is used for interior accent/trim? Is it mahogany? It looks too dark for teak.

On the vast majority of Carvers, it is teak. Could just be a darker stain someone applied through the years. er

Over the years, some of that teak can darken quite a bit. I spent a day doing some pretty deep cleaning on my '83 and it brightened it up a bit, even without using harsh chemicals.

It is teak. Older boars had dark teak, then Carver evidently decided to lighten up their interiors (Good Decision!) and went to lighter teak. My '92 AC 350 has dark teak.

You can over think that project. Depending on your environment, you may get away with just using a standard teak cleaner and stain. My steps were totally greyed out after many years of exposure to sun, rain etc. I cleaned with Starbrite Teak Cleaner, ( not Cleaner/Brightener ), with a medium brush, rinsed and let dry for a day. Then applied Interlux Sikkens stain according to directions on can. Brought back the teak finish like new. Sikkens has several shades of natural teak finish. No sanding or elbow grease, unless there is previous thick coats of coverings. My steps have stayed nice for the last 3 seasons, with no addtional maintenance and plenty of foot traffic. I would be a bit hesitant to make a decision of the wood type based on color alone, compare the grain as these boat makers used both mahogany and teak etc depending on what was available and the cost at the time. They do look very much alike to the untrained eye when stained and finished. Be careful as much of this is veneer.
