Hello everyone,
My wife and I are looking at a 2000 Carver 396 Motor Yacht. 1400 hrs on the engine and just short of 3000 on the generator. Anything specific we should look out for or take extra care looking at before we make an offer?
TIA,
Greg

That's a HUGE question with a TON of answers!
I know I have read numerous threads on here with great summaries so i would start there, using the search function.
Definitely don't neglect a survey/sea trial. It will inevitably miss some things but it will catch a lot - especially if you can find a good inspector.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
Kyle

Just noticed you said "engine". I'm assuming you meant "engines"?
Is it a diesel or gasser boat?

Yes, sorry engines Typo on my part. Twin 370hp Cummins with 1390 Hours
This is probably the dumbest question and I must be missing it. Where is the search function? I was looking for it before i posted this question

No worries! One of the biggest issues for me was a spongy swim platform. I've got a thread on here for my repair. It obviously wasn't a deal-breaker but definitely aided in the negotiations.

I read your post so know to have the surveyor pay attention to that area. have you replaced the refrigerator? it has a Nova Cool RFU8000. from my reading the RFU 9000 may fit. the cut out area seems to be fit larger but trim it the same.

No change-out of the refrigerator. This one keeps on running so I'm just gonna let it run-to-failure (hopefully no time soon)! Ours is the RFU8000 too.
