Fuel Vent 326 Aft Plugged??

Postby Marty » August 14th, 2018, 5:46 pm

Pulled up to the gas dock after a weekend on the water and port engine took 100 litres and Starboard wouldn't take a drop as it only burped the gas back out. After some reading I think it may be the vent is plugged, but after checking quickly this am I assume the vent is out the back of the boat near the water line but if thats the case I'm not sure what could be the cause? Anyone else have this happen?

Heh there....gas tank vents will be on the side of the boat.....two tanks , each one will have a vent, closer to the hull deck joint than the waterline for sure....usually chrome termination showing and are easily plugged by insects etc, you will also have to check for a kinked hose running to the tank. Where did the gas come out, vent or fill hose?
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

A clogged vent does cause problems, but I've never seen a fuel vent down near the water line. They are usually much higher on the hull side.

My manual is down on the boat but when I pulled up this for a 99 it looks as though they vent out the rear. I looked on both sides of the hull and there were not any vents visible.

I agree, looking at that looks like near the fill deck plates......in any case check as above.

I guess we are a little surprised the tanks are so far aft. Usually they are further forward next to the engines and the vents are always very close to the tank coming out the side.
