Do you recognize these rudder shaft seals?
Any one replaced one of these or had it apart? I am guessing haul-out and dropping the rudders, but I obviously would want to have replacement parts ready to go. This is for a 2002 Carver 396. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Re: Do you recognize these rudder shaft seals?
So I guess the next question is: has anyone ever removed this and if so, how? Does it just unscrew out of the sleeve or is it press fit or something else? I'm off now to try to find a supplier so if anyone has any ideas where to buy I would sure appreciate it! Thanks again!

Re: Do you recognize these rudder shaft seals?
This is all based on a leak through the shaft seal, not the joint between the log insert and the tube.

Do you mean the part of the seal that is epoxied into the hull that the upper half of the seal screws into? (called the Epoxy Liner in the photo below)
Is there any way to definitively know if the model I have is threaded before hauling the boat out of the water? I definitely don't want to try to unscrew a unit that is not designed to be unscrewed!

Any special tools to unscrew it or just use a strap wrench/oil filter wrench to remove?
Thanks again for all the help!

Re: Do you recognize these rudder shaft seals?
Depends on where your leak is; right at the rudder shaft or where the insert/bearing assembly meets the liner. If you're going to remove the upper insert, and or if that's where the leak is (at the joint) get a new o-ring for it, clean the assembly and install the new o-ring.
