Rub the ball gently, think good thoughts and it will flash the winning powerball numbers...... :-D ....

Couldn't resist.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Is that a momentary-contact switch? Does anything happen when you toggle the switch?

I thought about doing something very similar to that, with a big green light (which looks like it could be under that shade) and a toggle switch. It would be a "rudder centered" indicator, but only active when you toggle the switch. That way, you could toggle the switch and rotate the wheel and it would light when perfectly centered to prepare for docking. I did not have a rudder angle indicator on my boat.

Could be a plethora of other things though. A high water alarm (with a 'silence' switch).... or... (let me think a bit...)

See if it's hooked up to both tachs or at least getting tach signals from somewhere, looks like an old engine synchronizer to me. Should be a light inside, and as long as it's flashing, both engine RPMs are different. The rate of flashing changes based on how far apart the RPMs are from one engine to the other. When the light stops flashing, the RPMs of both engines are the same. At least that's the way most models of that type worked.

Cool! Thanks. My husband thought it was the rudder indicator too. It makes no light whatsoever after 42 years, but maybe another project to keep me busy. So for now, it only will tell me the lottery numbers.

You tried turning it on with the engines running right? They have to be running for it to work.
