I have a carver 404, the swim platform is getting a little spongy. I assume I have some water ingress and it needs to be recored. What is involved and how much should it cost? WHat is the best way to do it? Are replacement platforms available?
Thanks,

If its detachable and you catch it right away you can re-core it pretty easily. You just need to remove it. Cut the bottom fiberglass layer (from underneath) . This will expose the core. Remove and replace. Then re glass from the underside with 1708 biaxle. Remember the thickness of the core and the bottom layer is where the strength is. Gel coat the underside and then reattach. You should be able to do this without touching the glass and gel coat visible top and sides. Unless the "spongy" parts have spider cracked from walking over it.
