Are the screws that hold the handrails wood or machine w/a nut?

Welcome aboard. They should be thru-bolted to the deck either with nuts or through threaded holes in a backer plate. Some applications have the backer plates glassed into the fiberglass.

Not sure how much they changed from my '83 to your '91, but they are are machine screws on mine. It's a bit difficult to get to some of the nuts on the underside....you need to remove panels in a lot of places and have long reaching arms.

You may just have the machine screws going into the threaded backers......see if you can find a spot to look behind first.

If they just spin, probably loose nuts.
On our project, we just about removed every bit of interior and took advantage of that. Every screw was loose. Pulled them all, rebedded the stanchions, and installed new screws and nuts with much larger washers

When you tackle this, following up with locations, what you had to remove to get there and some pics would really help others planning on doing the same thing to their 3607. We loves pics

What are you planning on using to seal the holes and fasteners with?

Was not planning on “sealing” any holes. From what I’ve learned the screws are machine, hence there is a “nut.” So, my goal is to remove inside panels sufficient to expose the nuts and tighten using thread lock. Inspection reveals that R&R the panels is going a significant chore, i.e. 1-2 days.
