Has anyone had a port fuel tank replaced on 404? Approximate cost.
Thanks - David

Can't comment on labor costs as there are several factors that affect that but you're essentially removing an engine to get to the tank. The tank should have a label on it with the manufacturer info and model number, etc. If you can't find that, give Carver a call with your hull number, they should be able to give you that info. Some of the original hardware suppliers no longer exist but there are companies that have the specs or will build to the measurements you give them. Try these guys, I've dealt with them a few times, they fabricate a really good product, have a quick turnaround, and may even have the specs for your tank:

Did you replace your tank? What was the cause of the leak? My starboard tank just dumped a full 100 gal tank of diesel fuel in to the bilge and consequently overboard. With help from the Coast Guard we were able to recover and dispose of the fuel however am now looking at a major job to pull it, suspect erosion but hard to see; am interested in what others have experienced as well.

Replaced starboard tank last year. Leak caused by corrosion in bottom of tank. Water on bottom. Removed everything on starboard side to get at tank. About $6,000. Had replacement tank made by local vendor. Good luck!

Does the vendor that made the tank for you specialize in this particular boat, Liza404?
