Den are you absolutely sure there is no module back there....mine is a bit away from the gauge, mounted on the back of the dash behind a pile of wires . :-O ....looks exactly like the one Blake posted but the numbers are a little different......the number 936154 is the same but after that is 091500...then r8040...then 5765553....this is on a 2001.....beede gages I believe...take it for what its worth.......magical a best.

I think if we could get the dash wiring diagrams and parts list it may clear up a lot of fog here...... :beergood:

Thanks Bud.
I am going to take a good look for it. I bet that it does live back there someplace and I will replace it. (thanks for the link g36)

I did in fact find the unit pictured exactly as Blake's post.
I have a question for the forum regarding the wiring. The current unit is wired into a 'bundle' of wires with connections. As I plan to wire directly to the posts as described in the instructions (I don't think that it would be prudent to 'tie' it into existing wires in case there is an issue with them), do you think it's ok just to 'snip off' the old unit...leave the old wiring 'in place' and 'dead' through it's travels in the bundle and seat the new unit where the old unit lives. Is that how you would do it?
Thanks.

What part/serial numbers you got on yours??.........when and if I replace , I will check the length to the gauge and go from there.....wires and connections look real good ( check continuity of course ) so because of the other connector I noticed I will probably just connect the new one to the existing.Probably just the circuit board in there, it is very hot under that dash.

I will take the bundle apart though and separate the module wires away by themselves just in case there may some stray interference in there somewhere.

On the back of the tachometer is a switch. Note it’s posi and rotate it through all the positions several times. This will clean the contacts and may fix your issue.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

What he said. It worked for me once when I had an issue on a previous boat.

Blake, sorry for the late response. Noticed no replies to your fuel consumption question. 11.4GPH at 3400 sounds dead on to what I am getting on my 350XL Crusaders. Also, check this link out. http://www.boat-fuel-economy.com/mercur ... us-gallons Change choice to your 6.2L and bingo!

Hope you found your hour meter issue. I do believe your meters have the oil pressure switch engaged, so meters will not run if key is in "on" position only.
