Horn repair

Postby 1992330aftcabin » February 7th, 2019, 8:14 am

Hello, I have a 1992 330 with sick horns. I have read that I can take them apart and clean them with WD 40 and that will fix them. Any feedback or suggestions? Thanks Mike

If it is like the older ones, there used to be a small adjustment screw on the back, and if I remember right it was under the label...memory is a little foggy...have a look at yours, may just be some corrosion. Probably the newer ones you just replace.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Bud, I think you are correct, the horn takes a 90 degree turn. I think it would be hard to find.

sometimes the horn doesn't work from lack of use and corrosion. If you loosen it from the mounts, turn the horn up, spray some wd or pb blaster and let it sit a day, it MAY come back to life.

A little more info might help:
Are these electric or air powered?
If electric, are you getting 12 volts to the horns.
If air, is the pump working?
Do they make any sound at all?
Try the suggestions above and if they don't work, open them up and check the diaphragms. They might be damaged.

Look down the throats, sometimes it's as simple as cleaning out spider or hornet nests.

Hello, I was out to the boat yesterday removed the horns looked down the throat and Viper was correct, it was loaded with spider nest and web. Cleaned all the debris out and my horns work like new. Thanks Viper.

Now spray some bug repellant in them to keep the bugs out!
