Hello all. Is it necessary to remove the window frame from outside to accommodate replacing the felt channel? Thanks. Doug

I'm not sure how you would remove the frame, as I think it's welded to the windshield frame too.
When you say "felt" are you talking about the little brushes on each side of the window? If so, I'm curious about replacing that too as mine are old and worn. Seems like there's a little channel that they fit into on each side, like you could pop them into place once you get it started. There is a thread on here that has links to different suppliers for the various sizes and types.

It's called pile weather stripping. I was able to find it with a stick on backing. Pulled the old out, cleaned track real good and stuck on the new pile window weather strip. You may also find it with ridge plastic backing, but you'll have to notch the track to thread it back in I'm afraid.

Admiral Mike, are you saying that you can replace the weather stiping w/out removing the window?

The track I have (3607) is notched. You can slide that pile weather strip back and forth a little bit. I was thinking of trying to dig out a section to get the actual dimensions to see if I can get a replacement.

I keep thinking I might do this on my 3607, but didn't think it was possible until I started looking around. I might cut a piece of the existing stuff out to see exactly what size it is and give it a shot.
If you do it, let me know (and take some pics!)

Doug; I replaced the pile weather strip on my aft cabin window without removing the window. I pulled the old out, cleaned the aluminum rail and adhered the new pile weather strip with the adhesive backing. Google pile weather striping.

Try dkhardware.com CRL Z78295C Zipper Pile Weatherstrip .270" Backing - .250" Pile Height - 100' Roll. I just finished rebuilding all the salon windows on a 3807. One inch wide thin plastic scraper will allow
you to push it in. To do all the salon and aft windows I used almost 400 ft. Replacing all. I removed all windows to make the
job go easier. If window sliding is tough, insert eplastics.com Slick Strips UHMW Sheet and Tape is a product line that we have been producing for over 25 years. Slick Strips reduce friction on all surfaces. Wherever you need to increase sliding action. We now can move our large salon windows with one finger.
