Hello looking for some help! I’m looking for the window seal for my 1992 330 aft cabin. It’s the aft cabin escape window, it was manufactured by Taylor. I have contacted carver and Taylor no luck with them. I would like to get a replacement seal if possible or a replacement window the dimensions are 271/2 wide by 161/2 tall that is the outside dimensions. I have added some photos for a better understanding of what I need.

Would you have a pic of the seal profile/cross section....it may help someone to recognize it. Sorry I can't help.

Bud, the best pictures I could get without removing the seal. I was hoping someone else has experienced this issue and could help wit a seal supplier.

May I suggest taking a hair dryer or heat gun and warming the rubber seal and then pushing the seal back in place. If the rubber seal is stiff, wipe on transmission fluid a few of times, it will soften the rubber, then you may be able to work the seal back into place. Know any car windshield installers, They would be able to help you!

That escape hatch is a great idea. My 3007 just has an aft hatch. It's not big enough to get out if I had to.

Pretty darn sure you can coax that seal back into place, yes rubber shrinks but it is still very pliable. A dab of silicone grease and a flat wooden spoon combined with some type of plastic tool to help push it back into place should be quite feasible IMHO.

Once done, put a light coat of silicone grease on the exposed rubber and wipe down with a clean rag. This will keep the rubber pliable and prevent further drying out. I agree with Hans, you can probably put it back in, the question is will it stay. Rubber shrinks over time and more so if it's in direct sun all the time and when it gets colder. Try this; using a hair dryer or an adjustable temp heat gun and starting on one side at a time, heat up the seal while stretching it toward a corner. Do this on both sides of the corner starting half way away from the adjacent corner. If you heat up the entire seal and frame a bit before you start, it will make it easier. If you don't have an adjustable heat gun or a diffuser attachment, be careful or you will destroy the seal. If the seal shrinks and the corners release again, you can try putting a dab of fast curing caulking that sticks to rubber into each corner in hopes it will keep it from releasing.

As mentioned, treating all such rubber on your boat with a good product can minimize shrinking and stiffening due to age, changing temps, UV, etc. I use ArmorAll on a regular basis. They have several different products including a tire care line which works great at keeping rubber looking shiny and new while protecting it from the elements and UV. I just use the original wipes and liquid formula for all the different areas, works great for rubber, vinyl, plastic, etc. Don't forget your rub rails, windshield, hatch, refrigerator, ice maker, and portlight seals, etc. they can also contract, release, and become stiff.

job.
