Manual pump beside gas tank on starboard side

Postby Robby Robb Lewis » April 25th, 2020, 6:20 pm

Hey guys and gals.
Can one of you tell me what the manual pump beside gas tank is for? It looks like it has a thru hull fitting.
Thx

I thought same but the thru hull is in engine compartment. That would be no use in water. I will take pic tomorrow. Thx for helping.

That looks like a manual gulper pump. Could be used for a number of things but usually in an emergency to pump out the bilge. I've also seen them hooked up to holding tanks for overboard discharge.

Can you see what the other end is attached to, does it have arrows to indicate the flow direction thru the pump ? ?...I was thinking the same as Viper, maybe waste.
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

Guys thx for responding. I cant see the other end but it does go through the hull in the engine department . Does look like a discharge of the fresh water tank or waste. Does your fresh water discharge have an electric pump? There is another electronic PAR pump in front of it. This exits out the side of the boat.

Cant you use waste pump at sea? ( ten miles out) that means the electric is for waste and the manual pump for fresh water winterization. You all agree?

Problem solved! It is a waste pump out. I crawled under and traced input. It amazing that the waste pump out would be under the boat while underway. I guess a seacock opens and closes it. I would like to thx all responses. Hopefully I can help you guys in future.

That's the normal location for waste discharge....through the bottom of the hull.
