Seaward 3 burner electric stove top

I have an ‘89 3465. One of my burners does not function. I also have a new replacement burner. However, I cannot find a way to remove the “retainer ring?” in order to get the original burner out. It looks like you just pry it off, but I do not want to damage either it or the stove top. Is there some secret to taking out the burners?
Thanks for any suggestions.

You don't need to remove the retainer ring to get the burner out. Just lift the burner and wiggle it while pulling away from the connectors and it will just pull out.
Do you have the Top/Oven switch in the correct position?? If it's in 'Oven' mode, only two burners will work on the cooktop. It needs to be in 'Top' mode for all three to work.

I will proceed as suggested. I suspect the Top/Oven switch is in the wrong configuration. I remember, now, reading about that. Having had this Carver for only a month, it is still much a mystery.
Thank you

Hello all, new to the forum and have not seen any posts on the Seaward Oven except this one. I just purchased this yacht and was told by the previous owner that the interlock switch was bypassed due to the metal arm coming loose. I have found the switch to buy from Sure Marine 80709 InterLock Switch (Electric Ranges) Seaward Part Whale Marine
https://www.suremarineservice.com/Galle ... 80709.html.
Now, I do not see in any manual on the model 3342 (3 burner with oven electric) where this Interlock switch lives beneath the cooktop. Also, I do not see any wires so I can only assume the wires were removed as well. Any pics of where this switch and how it is secured and wired would be very helpful. Also, looking at wiring diagram under the cooktop, I do not see where that would be wired or what it would terminals it would interrupt. Thank you.

Do you still have the folding lid in place?
We had a much older model of that type of stove than yours and the switch as I remember it was along the back top edge and was pressed as the top was folded..... a general pain as I remember it... as the hinges wore, the top never did work just right.

Yes, the lid is on, it works fine. The oven and stove works fine as is but, the safety interlock switch is missing and no wires. Just need to know where it goes and how it is wired and what does it interrupt.
Thx.

Wow, hours on the internet and am now placing the info here in case anyone needs it for future use.
Model 3342 (3 burner with oven electric) where is the Interlock switch? How is it wired?
Found pictures of a Princess Stove retrofit that had pics showing the location of the Interlock switch line below:
https://mvsoundtrek.blogspot.com/2019/0 ... stove.html The switch can be purchased here at this link:

As I remember it, you could only operate the top burners with the lid up.......the switch takes care of that by interrupting power to the stove top switches when the lid is in the down position....as you raise and fold the lid the switch is depressed by means of the lever contacting the lid and allows power to the stove top burner controls.

That is it exactly. The wiring diagram was the key to seeing the operation.

Great investigation and thanks for posting the info!! I'm sure it will come in handy for future members!!
Been a LONG time since I had one of those ovens/ranges apart! I had one in my 3607 but it's probably been 15 years since I had to dig into it.
IIRC, one of the "quirks" we discovered in the first couple years is that only one burner will operate if you have the switch in "oven" mode. If you put it in "cooktop" mode (or whatever it was called) all three operate but the oven doesn't.
I'm sure it's done to limit the maximum current drawn so you're not popping breakers, but it was confusing at first because it seemed like "sometimes the burners work and sometimes they don't".
