Hinge pin problem, Bowmar hatch

Hi all,

I have a Bowmar hatch from 1990. One of the hinge pins is partway out. I'm not sure how it got that way. No info from prior owner. The pin is frozen; I can't push it in, rotate it, or pull it out. I tried removing some screws but could not free up the hinge to remove it to take home to a work bench. Maybe everything is bonded to the deck? Any ideas? The pin is a white plastic or teflon material I think.

I tried contacting Bowmar but could not get to a technical person yet.

Thanks,
Barry

Is it possible the tab on the left side of pic #2 is off slightly, stopping the pin from going back in? I would try to pry that side up a little, while tapping in the pin. Do not use too much leverage so you break the hinge piece. If you are not having any issues with leaks or shutting alignment, maybe you do not want to fix something that is not broke. I can certainly understand the annoyance though. Good luck! 8-) er

It is probably stuck to the deck with sealant as well as the screws......I agree, if the hinge body itself is plastic and old don't even glance at it the wrong way.... :-D ... so long as the hatch works.

I was going to try to press it in with a C clamp but it won't fit in that spot.

So, I'm going with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" advice.

Thanks all!
