Clunking in prop shaft at low RPM

Has anyone experienced a loud clunking in the prop shaft at low RPM. When adding just a little power it goes away and runs great. We greased the zerk fittings and that helped a little bit but it came back.
The boat is a Carver 36 gas engines.

Wonder if the prop nuts loosened off and the prop is loose.

Welcome to the forum.... Th following is me assuming you have the remote v drive set up in your boat......
Is the noise coming from the joint that is between the engine and the v drive case, or the shaft from the v drive case to the prop. Check for slop/play in the joint/ shafts.
Is there grease and residue around the area of that joint ?

Rough engine idle will give you transmission noise and rattle.
