I attempted the rebuild and after bolting on the back of the pump wrong (I thought the X marks were to align up). The helm would not work at all. Took it all apart - it all fell in pieces so had to do all the details again - uggg. Putting the top portion back in with the 3 large o-rings - I tore one. So wanting to get back on the water - do you think I can buy that o-ring at a parts store locally or do I need to order the kit again? The harbor is costing $56 a night and it's always fun to get back on the water!

If you have the "o" ring and it is close to it's original size.....try calling a few hydraulic repair places, equipment repair, tractor repair.....maybe they could match it.

Buy an O ring kit from harbor freight. They are cheap and cover all common sizes.

Somewhere on here I posted all the o-rings that you need. One of the other members had looked them up and got them at a local supply store. I think they only cost $10 for the whole set. You can do some searches on here and I will also see if I can locate that thread.
EDIT: Found the graphic. The company he got these from was called Zatkoff.
I thought this showed the actual sizes but it just does for the last one. Maybe you can cross-reference the parts though:

Just gonna add for reference.....when buying replacement O rings pay particular attention to the thickness measurement of the ring as well as the diameter spec., if there is one. ........

Ok, your all gonna love this one....I followed the advice of finding a hydraulic company. They had the o ring. Then I asked the nice guy if they would put the two parts together as this was the very difficult part. He said absolutely, that's what they do, and it would be less than the 50 bucks I suggested. I got back to my boat, had to do a conference call so sent my daughter to the hydraulic place with the parts. So I discounted the 3 cables....without marking them...to excited from the fact the pump was going to be out together. She got back with an assembled pump, they did not charge her at all. I put it back in the helm, and went to hook up the hydraulic lines with a sick feeling, not knowing what line went where. There was one line with some tape, I remembered it was on the S side. I positioned the others that naturally lined up. Bleed system. Tried to turn, nothing from bridge helm (the repaired one) and could only turn right from lower helm. So we t and changed two of the cables from upper helm. Now can turn from lower helm but not upper. Uggggg. I am guessing I have the 3 cables wrong. 9 possible combination, but I think one is correct. So perhaps one more change to test. I am waiting to get to him port to do more troubleshooting. Can I confirm right left and reserve somehow by operating lower helm and waiting for fluid? Thanks for putting up with me....

Sure seems like this would be the easiest way. remove all three, have someone rotate the lower helm (just a bit) one way and then the other and see which two lines have fluid coming out. That should tell you which is the center for sure, but you may have to swap the two ends to get it directionally correct.

So my brother in law said the lines may have stamps on them. Sure enough there was a P stamped on one - bingo - Port. One of the others had this stamp (in photo). Not sure if it's indicating an S or something else for the reserver line. I know I am down to 50/50 - so I connected it to S. I had no steering from this helm after bleeding the system and only left / port steering from the lower helm. I will go back and flip them - but that was the configuration I had in place when I had steering from the lower helm and no steering from the "repaired" upper helm.
Two questions - what do you think this stamp means in the photo?
Do you thing the pump is put together wrong causing the steering not to work? I am concerned about the spring "arms" needing to be in perfect alignment with the ball bearings. I did get it seated and could feel the springs when I pressed down on the inserted portion of the spring pump. I don't get fluid out of the reservoir line every time I take it apart...

Just looks like a manufacturers stamping to me fro the pic........have you looked further back on the hoses to see if there is any id on the hose itself maybe around a corner that is not obvious.......maybe trace from the lower helm if that has not been touched.....pull wiggle hoses from below then trace.
It is clear here there is something wrong, sometimes that requires going back to the start to make absolutely sure of the hydraulic lines/ hose id and routing, perhaps an extra move you have forgotten.
You really have to get the hoses correct then you can do the proper purge procedure for this unit for it to work right.

Not sure if this is the same as yours but here is some instruction. You may have done all this but never the less. If so disregard.
