Screws, Butyl AND glue? Crikey!

I decided I was tired of the pastel lighthouse images that adorn two of the walls in the salon. I decided to remove one to replace it with something cooler. I was congratulating myself when I was able to get all three screws out fairly easily. It was still stuck there after the screws were out. Then the glass broke taking it off.

Look here some butyl too.

Now looking at this mess I wish I had just stayed uncool.

Any ideas on how to get that yellow glue off the textured fabric???

Coast guard regs clearly state that "all lighthouses be firmly attached".....

You might try something like GOOF Off but very carefully. Jim

I meant to comment on your use of the word crikey.....that is very British, used to hear that a lot, not so much anymore.

Looks like you are stuck with this... It's a bit of a sticky wicket, but sadly - the glue has probably saturated the material and it may not come clean. Maybe GooGone... Sorry.

Just insert a mirror into the frame and put it back. Attach firmly. 8-) er

I have tried goo gone to no avail. The goo did not get gone.

I am thinking a gentle sanding to knock off the high points and then a color matched paint might be the ticket? Worth a try maybe?

I guess if I were really being ambitious I could peel that fabric and veneer the wall, but...

Otherwise I might have to something in the frame and put it back - can't stand the look of it.
